Appraisals
Providing attorneys, trustees, executors, collectors, and homeowners with connoisseurship skills and qualified appraisals for over 25 years.
We offer two types of appraisals: a verbal appraisal and a written appraisal. Please read below to determine which one is right for you.
Written Appraisal
A Written Appraisal document is typically done for Estate Tax, Equitable Distribution purposes, Marital Dissolution, Insurance Scheduling, Asset Management, Damage/Loss, or Donation Tax. The first step is to define the “Scope of Work” which is the quantity, quality, type and extent of research and analyses required to prepare the appraisal. Once determined, a retainer agreement is developed, including client and appraisers’ expectations, goals, results and fees.
Frequently, we will schedule a date for an on-site exam. The client provides the appraiser with all relevant information, like previous appraisals, receipts or provenance. On-site, the appraiser inspects, photographs, and gathers information about an object in question in order to fully document its condition and appearance. After completing data collection and analysis, the appraiser will spend time researching, valuing, and putting together the appraisal document. All of our appraisal reports adhere to the current Uniform Standards of Professional Practice (USPAP).
Verbal Consultation
If you want to learn more about what you have, what it might be worth, and what to do with it, then a Magnusson Advisor or Project Manager can help you.
Virtually or in person at our Morristown HQ or your home, this visit gets your project off the ground with all the necessary information to make decisions and moves you forward with an action plan.
